i'm looking forward to my day. it's Tuesday, and when i would normally be at work i will be here at home being a 'housewife,' something i rarely get to be, but ironically wish i could be more of.
that happens when you get married.
somehow, even though you might never have been, a part of you evolves into a domestic goddess where you have an innate--perhaps somewhat instinctive--desire to take care of the "nest" so that when you're husband comes home he can relax and enjoy all the fruits of your labor...and that in itself is your reward.
well, regardless of being married or not, i think we all, deep inside, like those days when you can be at home in your comfy clothes cooking up something and cleaning the house. sounds like work, but it was always somehow relaxing.
today i'm going to do laundry, make my husband dinner, etc. in some respects, being a wife here at Beth-l is a different sort of role than the above. i am stripped of all those wifely duties other women have; for example, a bunch of young guys around the age of 20 are making my husband his dinner every night, not me. other men's wives do my husbands laundry, not me. someone else cleans our room, i don't. it definitely has it's perks, but deep down the house goddess in me has been taken away. i really miss her sometimes...and on days like this it feels good to get back in touch with her.
(and i'm really glad it's today because Bon Jovi is in concernt on the Today Show).
kinda funny, but Shaphan told me the other day that when we were dating my mom actually sat him down and told him--in all seriousness--that i don't cook and that i don't clean that much either. after all, these are important things to know when forming an attachment to someone. i laughed a bit when Shaph told me that. my mom lives and breathes the kitchen. apparently i didn't inherit that gene. but i wouldn't be a total disappointment in that area. i can actually cook up a good dinner, though i often don't have the opportunity.
today....i'm going to make some homemade ravioli with stuffed mushrooms. plus, my Netflix movie should be coming in the mail today...so i told Shaph it was going to be a Dinner and a Movie night. it's going to be a good day.
what do you think of that, mom? :)
