and the Oscar goes to...

i had fun doing mini-bible dramas with my bible student. i was both Goliath and David. i was able to pull off the duel-role enough for my bible student to guess who i was. i think the long roll of wrapping paper i used as a spear was the dead give-away. no, actually i think it was when i mimicked David throwing the stone from his sling, then quicked changed positions to Goliath and pretended to get hit in the head with it and fell backwards. hey, what can i say, it helps the kids remember the stories and they have fun with it. i've learned keeping it inventive means keeping their interest. i'm thinking of making up some cards for a Bible Taboo game. like use the word MIRACLE but taboo the words: manna, Red Sea, resurrection, cure and blind. i think they'd love it!

so about 3 weeks ago another sister and i placed a magazine with a girl on the street. the girl so obviously wanted to talk and we ended up starting a study with her out of the Bible Teach book. this is now her 3rd Sunday in a row that she's come to the meetings and she loves that we use our bibles to teach with. we spent about an hour talking after the last meeting and she actually filled me in on what i missed from the public discourse since i had a little bit of a medical emergency to tend to in the back (aka. holding the puke bucket). it was great to hear her explain back to me the concepts in the talk. she was really getting it! and she's excited to come to Beth-l to see where i work and live and, as i told her, there she'll get to see the global activity of JW's which she is really interested in.

it's so wonderful to see someone grow spiritually from the beginning, when you planted the tiny seed. to be in someones' story of how they came into the truth, the story they'll tell for the rest of their lives. just to have a small part in that is so deep to me. what a privilige we have to share the truth with others.

another exciting thing....i got called for jury duty. frankly, this is exactly what i've been waiting for. being a juror was totally on my list of things i most wanted to do in life, along with seeing Oprah live and going to a John Bon Jovi concert, (the latter still waiting to be fulfilled). we'll see what kind of case it is or even if they'll keep me. honestly, i don't have time for it, but the government doesn't much care about people's schedules. the legal department has informed me that i could possibly be exempt because i am a full-time RN and another reason is that i'm a 'minister.' we'll see what happens.

i just have to say that dinner with Laura and Mike went great. he's perfect. he's a teddy bear. and he lets Laura shine. and he talks with his hands just like Laura - what a perfect pair. check back in a couple days for photos.

You really need to come and visit me. Those mini-dramas are what we do all the time. Since a lot of the deaf don't know much sign language, we act out things for them to help them understand more. It's a lot of fun, isn't it? We do that at cong get togethers too. The deaf really like it.
