goodmorning to all! i've been waking up at 5 am the past several mornings to be to work at 6 and i can't believe i'm in as good a mood as i have been. with the exception that one of our long-time patients died on Saturday. he was one of my favorites, however, he was 94 years old so it was somewhat expected. at least he died peacefully in his sleep. we only found him in the morning when it was time to wake up and he didn't.
dialysis has been going well. all the kinks have been worked out and the treatments have been smooth going. although i'm still completely exhausted after due to the mere thought of something going wrong. my adrenaline is on high for like 4 hours out of the day. it's such a sensitive procedure...you just don't want anything to go wrong. i'm glad my patient likes John Wayne. it keeps him distracted while we make our way, sometimes what feels like stumbling, through the procedure.
we have a new physician at Bethel. actually she's a 3-week temporary physician with hopes to be permanent. she's 29, almost 30 and is a single sister. she just finished up her residency and is now free to practice wherever she wants. i've been getting to know her and i had wondered how in the world she did Med school and maintained her spirituality. she was not born in the U.S and said she really had no idea what she was getting herself into when she got into Med school. she wanted to practice medicine because she liked it and thought it would give her flexibility so she could pioneer. that was a rude awakening. in any case, she made it and as i've gotten to know her i've learned she really is a tender-heart and loves Jehov-h deeply, and he's seen fit to bless her with the opportunity to serve at Beth-l. it's taught me not to judge other people for their decisions. granted, it wasn't the greatest decision, but we really can't see another persons heart, and her heart is so pure. she's leaving in a week to go to NC to work. i hope she gets the opportunity to come back.
the other night we went to Shakespeare in the Park with a small group. it was an open air theatre and the play was "A Mid-Summer Nights Dream." it was so good! quite funny. my favorite part was the play within the play, if you've ever seen it. if not, you must. it's a classic and will make you laugh. quite different from most of Shakespeares work, which seems to me to be on the tragic side of things.
