Took a little jaunt over to Strasbourg, France. It was right next door to Germany and the Black Forest so how could we not go.
Strasbourg has a little section of town called La Petite France. All the homes and architecture is the same way it used to be hundreds of years ago - very medieval feeling.
My mom went crazy in the market square - where people put up hundreds of stands and sell antiques, clothes, etc. She finally found her tea pot she was looking for and instead of paying the 15 Euros she bargained with the German man and got him down to 10E. Looks like those skills she learned in Mexico come in handy in Europe as well.
During our exploration we walked into this famous cathedral in Strasbourg - which at one time hundreds of years ago - was the tallest structure in the world, thanks to its steeple. Its architecture has definite Gothic elements as you can see from the gargoyles that jet out from the side of the building almost like they're going to jump out at you. Interestingly, we found Jehovh's name in Hebrew - the Tetragrammaton - in a mural on the wall as you can see in the photo below. I looked up this cathedral in the library and found an article on on it illustrating that back in what we know as the Dark Ages there were obviously those who took Gods name seriously as can be seen in the artwork. Unfortunately, they were the minority. Today not much is different. The churches have failed to teach people that God has a name. I watched as tourists stopped at the mural to take a look and then moved on - not realizing what they were actually looking at.

Love how beautiful and "old world" everything looks. I'd never been really interested in visiting Germany as a tourism destination until I heard you talk about it at Mandy's wedding. It sounds very beautiful.
